This viewpoint holds historical significance, allegedly named after Rani Padmini Devi, who leaped from here to elude Tippu Sultan of Mysore.

Reaching Rani Jhari Viewpoint requires a trek through lush foliage, commencing at Kalabhairaveshwara Temple in Durgadahalli, approximately 41 km from Mudigere. The initial 4 km trek route leads through a moderately steep mud road, with the actual forest trek beginning from there. While jeeps and SUVs can navigate the 1 km distance to the trailhead, trekkers can also choose to start from the temple. The ascent is moderate, taking around 30 minutes to reach the viewpoint.

Offering stunning vistas of peaks, valleys, jungles, Gatikallu Viewpoint, Kudremukh National Park, and Ballarayana Durga Fort, Rani Jhari is an ideal spot to visit between November and May. It's recommended to carry ample sustenance, as there are no nearby shops.
