Savandurga is a single large rock, 1,226 meters above sea level. It lies somewhere about 60 kilometers from Bangalore. Savandurga can easily be reached from Bangalore with about 1.5 hours by car or taxi. The roads taking you to Savandurga are quite attractions itself that take you through the countryside and forest. There are no direct public transport options to the hill, so plan for a private or group vehicle.

The hillside is rocky so you would want good grip shoes for trekking. There are no facilities at the hill, so carry everything you think you might need, including water, an energy snack, sunscreen, and a first aid kit.
